We follow clear, robust safeguarding procedures - not to overwhelm or overcomplicate, but to protect children, support their development and make sure our Holiday Clubs remain happy, secure places to play and grow. Our staff are trained to notice when something doesn’t feel right, to listen carefully to children, and to act quickly and appropriately if they have a concern. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and everyone who steps into our clubs, from staff to visitors to volunteers, is expected to uphold the same high standard of care, respect and awareness. It’s all part of creating the warm, trusted environment Practically Family is known for.
To safeguard children and promote their welfare we will:
- Create an environment that helps children build confidence and a positive sense of self
- Provide positive role models and a safe culture where staff feel confident raising concerns
- Ensure all staff can identify signs and indicators of abuse, including subtle changes, and know what action to take
- Support children’s independence in ways that are right for their age and stage
- Provide a secure environment for every child
- Promote acceptance and understanding of different beliefs, cultures and communities
- Help children learn how to make choices, share their views and explore British values through play and discussion
- Always listen to children
- Equip our team to recognise when families may need extra support, and help them access it
- Share information with other agencies when needed, and always in the child’s best interest
